YouTube is very aware that creators have more options to make money online. Whether it’s Facebook Gaming or IGTV, the platform knows it has competition and they are not backing down.
YouTube’s biggest advantage is that most creators have built their audience on YouTube and will only leave if they have to.
Creators on youtube are getting more ways to earn money. Learning from the 2018 VidCon conference, YouTube announced several features that will add to the monetization and subscription models.
New Big Steps by YouTube for their Creators to make more money :
1. Channel Membership :
Channel Memberships have already been available for a select group of creators on YouTube as Sponsorships. They’ve seen a lot of creators find success with this new business model.
So YouTube will soon be expanding this to eligible channels with more than 100,000 subscribers on YouTube under the new name Channel Memberships.
2. Merchandise :
Merchandise has been a part of many creators’ businesses from past few years.
So YouTube, making it easier for more creators to sell merch directly from their channel, built a product that allows them to do just that.
From shirts with a logo to phone cases with a creator’s face, the team had associated with Teespring, so creators can choose from over 20 merchandise items to customize and sell via a shelf on their channel.

3. Introducing Premieres :
The engagement between fans and creators is at the heart of YouTube. Livestream feature made it easier and brought the YouTube community together.
So with Premieres, creators will be able to debut pre-recorded videos as a live moment. When creators choose to release a Premiere, it will automatically create a public landing page to build anticipation and hype up new content. When all fans show up to watch the premiere, they’ll be able to chat with each other (and with the creator!) in real time via live chat.
It’s as if a creator’s entire community is in one theater together watching their latest upload.
Premieres also unlocks new revenue streams. For the first time, creators can use Super Chat on traditional YouTube uploads and take advantage of Channel Memberships perks that were previously only available on Live videos.
Thats all about the new ways to earn money on YouTube as announced in 2018 VidCon conference & explained in YouTube’s Official Blog.
